Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has won an additional order for a large offshore wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) worth 382.9 billion won from Eneti Inc. of Monaco.

The ship will be built at DSME’s Okpo Shipyard and delivered to the client by the first half of 2025.

Eneti ordered a WTIV to DSME in May this year. The contract included an option for an additional order. The vessel measures 148 meters in length and 56 meters in width and can carry five 14 to 15 MW offshore wind turbines at once. It can install offshore wind turbines 65 meters under the sea. In addition, the vessel can take its position accurately at the installation site using seven thrusters and a GPS system. It attaches itself firmly to the sea floor using jack-up legs so that its 2,600-ton crane can move and install offshore wind turbines.

The ship will be built based on NG-16000X design, which was recently developed by Gusto MSC, a Dutch engineering company.
